August 18th Chapter Meeting / Continuing Education

Gentlemen and Ladies,

 

ETASHI (East Tennessee Chapter of ASHI) will be presenting 4 hours of Continuing Education on Saturday, August 18 starting at 8 am.  Todd Duncan P.E. will be presenting "Structural Concerns".  This course is approved for 4 hours of Continuing Education Credits by ASHI; and application has been made to TN State Home Inspector Licensing Board for 4 hours Continuing Education Credits approval.  The cost for the meeting will be $20 for Chapter members and $40 for non-chapter members. First time attendee Home Inspector visitors are free.    

 

We will meet at Master Dry Corporate Headquarters Meeting Room, 6226 Clinton Highway, Knoxville, TN 37912.  Sign-in begins at 7:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided compliments of Master Dry, LLC.

May 19 2018 Chapter Meeting

Ladies and Gentlemen,

ETASHI (East Tennessee Chapter of ASHI) will be presenting 4 hours of Continuing Education that will be both State of TN and ASHI approved on Saturday, May 19 beginning 8 am at the Master Dry Corporate Headquarters Meeting Room, 6226 Clinton Highway, Knoxville, TN 37912.  Sign-in begins at 7:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided compliments of Master Dry, LLC.      

Shannon Cory ACI will be our guest speaker and he will present two courses titled:  "Understanding and Resolving Foundation Issues-When to call an Engineer" for 2 CE Hours & "Correcting Crawl Space Environments for Better Indoor Air Quality" for 2 CE Hours.

Both of these courses will be preapproved for ASHI and State of TN continuing education credits, for a total of 4 CE's.     

The cost for this meeting will be $20.00 for chapter members and $40.00 for repeat    non-members.  First time non-member home inspector visitors are free.

Breakfast Snacks will be provided compliments of the chapter

Lunch provided compliments of Master Dry

ETASHI members are expected to attend a short business meeting where there will be a drawing for a chance to win door prizes.

Please try to attend and invite a fellow inspector that you think would be interested in learning more about ASHI and the East TN Chapter.

Chapter Meeting / Continuing Education 2/17/18

ETASHI (East TN ASHI) will be presenting 4 hours of Continuing Education that will be both State of TN and ASHI approved on Saturday, February 17 beginning 8am at the Master Dry Corporate Headquarters Meeting Room, 6226 Clinton Highway, Knoxville, TN 37912.  Sign-in begins at 7:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided compliments of Master Dry, LLC.      

The first course offered will be a 2 Hr. presentation by Paul Perry ACI on "Beyond The Basics", TN approval #351.  The second will be a 2 Hr. presentation on "Inspecting Old Houses From the Ground Up" by David Rushton ACI, TN approval #137.  Both of these courses will help inspectors to become an “old house detective” and “expect the unexpected”. Please make plans to attend and tell other home inspectors about this training event!   

    The cost for this meeting will be $20.00 for chapter members and $40.00 for repeat non-members.  First time non-member home inspector visitors are free.

November 11 2017 Chapter Educational Meeting

 This provides notice of the next ETASHI  Training and Meeting is scheduled for November 11, 2017 beginning 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. to take place at the Meeting Room at Master Dry Corporate Offices, 6226 Clinton Highway, Knoxville, TN 37912.  Sign-in begins at 7:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided compliments of Master Dry, LLC.      

Our guest speaker will be nationally known speaker Mike Twitty.  Mike will be presenting two courses.  The first will be a 2 Hr. presentation on "The History of Electrical Codes and Wiring Methods".  The second will be a 4 Hr. presentation on "Electrical System Inspection Training".  These courses should provide good information for beginning as well as seasoned inspectors.  Also, we will have Kim Carman with Arrow Exterminators presenting for 2 Hrs. on "Wood Destroying Insect Infestation Report/Inspection".  Please make plans to attend and tell other home inspectors about this seminar!   

 All Three Courses Have CE approval for a total of eight (8) hours from both the State and ASHI for these courses.

Next Chapter Meeting

Please mark your calendars.  ETASHI (East TN ASHI) will be presenting 6 to 8 hours of Continuing Education that will be both State of TN and ASHI approved on Saturday, November 11.  The cost for the meeting will be free for Chapter members and a nominal fee for non-chapter members. (Please note that for a limited time ASHI National membership is free with $145 ETASHI Chapter membership.)  More information about the November meeting will follow at a later date as we firm up our plans and make our official announcement.    

 

Please note: Our regularly scheduled meeting for August has been canceled.  Please take this time to enjoy the rest of your summer with family and friends.  I look forward to seeing each of you in November!

May 20 2017 Chapter Meeting

This is to let everyone know that the East TN Chapter of ASHI will be holding their next chapter and educational meeting on Saturday, May 20th.  Unless notified of a change in the future, the meeting will be held at the Master-Dry facility in Knoxville, TN, as normal.  There will be four hours of TN State and ASHI approved education provided at the meeting. 

The meeting cost will be ten dollars ($10.00) per attendee.  You can pay Peter Waraksa through Pay-Pal before the meeting, or pay cash or check at the meeting.  Doors will open at 7:30 for sign-in and light breakfast foods and the education will start at 8:00.  There will be a Chapter Business meeting during and or immediately following a catered lunch.

Please forward this to any other inspectors that you think might be interested. 

If at all possible, please let me know by May 15th if you are coming to the meeting so we can provide adequate materials and food.

February 18th Educational Meeting Update

Hello to everyone!

We have ASHI National and TN State Approval for Eight (8) hours of Continuing Education for this Saturday’s Meeting!  Don’t let the Class Title deceive you, the presentation is all about water penetration, condensation and the barrier between conditioned and non-conditioned spaces!  All three are REQUIRED to be reported on in the S of P adopted by our Governing Board.

Light Breakfast foods, Coffee, Water, etc., and an on-site catered Lunch are provided.

The cost for these eight hours of approved education is $25.00 for East Tennessee Chapter Members and $80.00 for non-members.

If you have not done so already, please respond to Peter Waraksa’s email in regard to PayPal on line payment.  If you want to pay at the door, please bring a check or cash, no credit card payments accepted at the event, and please let me know ASAP if you are coming but haven’t pre-paid.  We need an accurate head count for food and educational materials.

This is the meeting announcement for the Feb. 18th educational and business meeting of the East Tennessee Chapter of ASHI.  We are scheduled to have eight (8) hours of continuing education presented and/or organized by Darson Buckner with DuPont/Tyvek.  ASHI & State approval is pending at this time, but no difficulties are expected.

Unless otherwise notified, the meeting will be at “Master Service Companies” in Knoxville. (Previously, Master-Dry. Same location as our recent previous meetings)

The cost for the meeting will be $25.00 for Chapter members and $80.00 for non-chapter members.

 For non-chapter members, if you choose to join the East TN chapter of ASHI at the February meeting, you will receive a $45.00 discount off of your first year dues.  Current Chapter dues are $145.00, so your first year dues would be reduced to $100.00

Darson Buckner is a Moisture Management Consultant and has been an Independent Product Weatherization Specialist for DuPont Tyvek® for 15 years.  He has been involved with field studies and research of window installations for over 20 years. He is certified with the Masonry Institute of Tennessee and Brick Institute of America as a certified masonry inspector and has worked on several projects with the Oak Ridge National Laboratories Buildings Technology Department; DIY; Charter Cable Home Improvement Series; HGTV; ZEBRAlliance and was instrumental in helping test three new product applications from the DuPont Building Innovations Team for the North American market. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Green Building and has given thousands of seminars to architects, code officials, builders, and other building professionals in the U.S.  Darson is certified with architect, builder, and building codes organizations as an approved educational speaker in the area of Moisture Management. He is certified as a Home Energy Auditor and is a LEED Green Associate. He has been certified as a Construction Documents Technologist from the Construction Specification Institute and a Master Certified Green Professional by the National Association of Home Builders.

November 19 Chapter Meeting / Education

The meeting is as planned and announced.  We have an attorney doing a two hour presentation on the legal environment for home inspectors and I will be doing a two hour course on defects.  If collectively we want two more hours, we can do another approved video for two hours after lunch and the bus. meeting.

I have an eight hour meeting in the works for February.
